Japanese Portraits

Artist: Daisuke Ujuan.
His right painting feels like its going to vanish to me.For the left painting, i wonder why is the person in such position.

Artist:Yasumasa Morimura.

Artist:Toshio Bando

Artist:Minako Ota

Artist:Ikenaga Yasunari
Japanese artist Ikenaga Yasunari paints portraits of women in serene, often wistful poses, in which the patterns of their clothing and surrounding textiles as as important within the compositions as the stylized design work of Mucha or Klimt.Though his approach is modern, Yasunari works in tools and techniques from the traditional Nihonga style, painting on linen cloth with a Menso brush, using mineral pigments and soot ink (comparable to Lamp Black in European artistic tradition).

XHXIX

Xhxix is a tokyo-based artistpaintings depict mostly gaunt young men in surreal states of mental anguish or physical injury. They seem in some state of depression, trapped in their hurting bodies with their heads tumbling. The images are filled with raw emotion and fragmented nuances.I feels that every painting has its story behind it. His painting captures the look of loneliness and is haunting. All of his painting are either white or grey.

I like this self portrait because the color of the background and the rainbow color looks well together and makes the drawing looks sad and depressing.

This painting is on a boy shattering and the pieces of him. He looks like he is thinking something. This painting feels like there is a story behind.

The tomato is covering half of the face and it feel like blood dripping down his face. He looks like thinking of something and has a story in the painting.

This painting makes me guess why the window is on the eye and what the artist is trying to say. After a careful look on the painting, I found that there is a cross on the mouth. This makes me curious again and really wants to know the story behind.

To me, this drawing means that the smiling sticker is on the face of the boy but he is not smiling, rather, he is sad and depress. On a closer look, the right eye not normal.
This portrait show a boy standing and doing a "V"hand sign but he does not look happy.

This portrait has 3 merry go round horses hanging on top of the boy and he is covering his nose and mouth. The right eye is more obvious that it is not normal in this painting.Merry go round remind me of childhood. Maybe he has a bad memory of this childhood.

This portrait show him wearing a fox mask.Fox remind me of cunning、  slyness.

This painting show a boy biting on to a piece of bread and his face is full of mold.

Interesting self portraits:

Here are some self portraits that are interesting by using special ways to form a self portrait. Some uses line, curly lines or material.
This self portrait is really simple and not much identity but it really amazed me at the first look! It is incredible that arranged lines can form a image, a self portrait.
I like this self portrait because the material used is very special and it is very difficult to do.The colors on the face are very colorful and it surprisingly blends and make it looked like a face.
Just like the first artwork on top, this self portrait uses curly lines and color to form a image. It is really amazing how lines can form a image!
It is not really visable but by close look, there are tree trunk and branches. This makes the artwork really beautiful of combining nature with self portrait and gives a mysterious feel.
This simple self portrait uses letters to form a image.
This self portrait is of a girl combing hair and the right side of the hair that she is combing has parts of her self:eyes and mouth. And it feels mysterious as there is only half of her face showned.
This self portrait uses red lip stick, red eye shadow and red fruit may be because the person likes red a lot. Also, the fruit may be the person's favourite fruit. This shows self identity and the fruits covering the face gives a mysterious feel.
This self portrait feels funny as it exaggerate the mouth and makes it become big. This showns that this person may like to laugh a lot.

Fauvism

Fauvism is the style of "the wild beasts". It emphasized paintly qualities and strong color over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism.I think Fauvism is very incredible because lots of colors can come together.
This self protrait feels sad and confused. There are lots of colors used, mostly are blue on the left and red on the right. The light seems to fall from the left.

This fauvism self portrait feels sad maybe is because of the mainly use of blue and green color. This drawing has lots of circle patterns and is interesting.

This fauvism self portrait feels angry because of the eyes and the use of red color.

This fauvism self portrait feels sad and confused maybe because of the angle and the use of green and purple.

This fauvism uses pink, blue, green and peach for the skin and thin strokes for the hair.

This portrait uses lot of colors and thin strokes at the sides as hair. This portrait feels greyish somehow and hence feeling sad.

This drawing uses blue on some parts of the face and the shoulder and background, making the drawing feel sad.

This self portrait is asymmetrical balance as the person is on the left and the right is the purple background. This makes the drawing interesting.

This self portrait uses mainly two colors, brown and purple. This gives people a very sad feeling and this two colors blends well.

This fauvism self portrait uses purple on the skin and uses blue, green and yellow on the hair.
